The Nov. 11 article regarding the CCURA leaves questions I hope The World will take it upon itself to answer. While it exists, an Urban Renewal Distract "costs" taxing districts other than the sponsor district? How much? About $63K for schools, and $12K for the county, and ... ? And when the Urban Renewal District is dissolved, those districts that could not "backfill" get dollars? Maybe? Or will they agree that it is a "small price to pay for redevelopment?" If so, did those taxing districts have a voice when the CCURA was formed? It was my understanding that the tax revenue from the CCURA allowed the district to pay the interest on the debt that developed from projects on the North Spit. The idea that the district "siphons off" funds from other taxing districts is news to me, and I can't see why that would be happening. Enlighten us further if you please. This addition to Coos County taxes pulls funds from other taxing districts in the county?
