On Sept. 15, Marshfield traveled to Junction City for a football game. My grandson, Jake Rogers, played for JC and had been badly injured the previous week against Tillamook. He is a senior whose season had just ended.
It was devastating for a young man who had hoped to be recruited by a college. He was at the game, on crutches, with his teammates. I just found out that at some point the Marshfield players and their coach all came over to the JC sideline to shake his hand. I can't begin to explain how touching that gesture was to him, his family and teammates. You should be very proud of your coach and your team. Jake has said that Marshfield is a very good team that plays hard but plays "clean". Sadly, that cannot be said of all teams. Thank you Marshfield players and coaches.
