Thanksgiving. Long ago in a far away land (Massachusetts) Pius Pilgrims stepped ashore onto Plymouth Rock. The first steps should have been Ellis Island, but never mind, these refugees from Europe lacked passports. They were willing to share their new home with the red men and red women.

Winter was no picnic or party. Global climate warming did not rescue the undocumented. Poor navigation landed them well north of Virginia, where Pilgrims dare not go. Our Pilgrims claim they brought progress. They taught us to be grateful and think about the needy, as we inhale enough food for two or three. Reassured, we enjoy our just desserts.

Thank goodness Thanksgiving is just once a year.
