On Saturday, Oct. 3, five children, ages 5, 3, 2, and 6-month-old twins, and five adults, died in a horrifying fireball when an LNG pipeline exploded in SE New Mexico.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, there was an explosion at a natural gas facility in Gibson, La. Three more dead. Why weren't these stories plastered on the headlines across the country?

Don't believe that high pressure gas pipelines and terminals are safe. Nor is bringing in 2,000 low-lives who will raise the rape, burglary, mugging and other crime rates here, just as they have when they were shipped in elsewhere.

Unfortunately, some people can only see dollar signs and are blind to the destruction of our land, air quality, water systems, oyster beds, fishing jobs, natural beauty and the safety of our families and homes.

Those will be the true cost of allowing this time bomb in our back yard/bay.
