A Coos Bay man was arrested by Coos County Sheriff's deputies Wednesday night following a struggle with the officers.
According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, at about 8 p.m., deputies were traveling north on Cape Arago Highway in Coos Bay when they recognized Joshua Rocky Martin, age unknown, walking north bound.
The officers confirmed with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center that Martin had active warrants out for his arrest. After contacting Martin on Spaw Lane, the deputies attempted to arrest him. He began to resist arrest resulting in deputies using force to detain him.
Following a cursory search of Martin for weapons and escape tools, deputies located a black .357 revolver in his pocket. They checked the revolver through the Coos County Dispatch Center and the national database and the firearm came back stolen out of the Myrtle Point Police Department.
Martin was transported to the Coos County Jail without further incident. He was booked on four warrants with the following charges: unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed firearm, theft II and possession of a stolen vehicle and three counts of failure to appear in the first degree.
Additionally Martin was charged with resisting arrest, theft I and unlawful possession of a firearm. Martin's bail was set at $190,000.
