COOS BAY — The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay commissioners tonight selected David Koch as the organization's new CEO.

Koch had been serving as the group's interim CEO since December.

He replaces Jeff Bishop, who resigned from the port's top post in November after seven years at the helm to take a job as city manager of Blanchard, Okla.

Seems they had some sort of "good" reason for making our Port Commissioners not elected by the people they impact so much back in the 1980's, but I forget what that might be ...... anybody recall why?
