At his request, no services will be held for Walter Jeffery Sabin Jr., 92, of Langlois. Cremation rites were held at Myrtle Crest Crematory in Coquille and inurnment will be at Denmark Cemetery in Langlois.

Walter was born Oct. 19, 1918. He died Aug. 2, 2011, in Bandon.

Walt drove school bus when he was still in high school. During his younger years he was a commercial fisherman and a dairy farmer along the Coquille River. When he moved back to the Little Star Ranch in Langlois, he milked cows for three years, then became a logger then a rancher on Floras Creek.

He married Doris June White on April 3, 1943. During their 68 years together, Walt and June logged, raised sheep, raised their family and enjoyed many miles of travel. Their travels included trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and to the East Coast for a family reunion.

Walt’s favorite pastime was fishing. He enjoyed many days fishing and camping with family and friends. His favorite fishing hole was Lobster Creek on the Rogue River. He also enjoyed hunting.

Walt is survived by his wife, Doris June Sabin of Langlois; son and daughter in-law, Rod and Sandi Sabin of Langlois, and their children Paul Sabin and friend Staci, Chris Sabin and wife Lori and Willy Sabin, all of Bandon; daughter and son in-law, Lila and John Kirchgesler of Langlois and their son, Randy Kirchgesler and wife Jasmine of Langlois, and daughters, Jennifer Kirchgesler and friend Tom of Springfield and Stacy Long and husband Tyler of Langlois; great grandchildren, Tyler, Tucker, Hannah and Brinkley; brother, Curt Sabin of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Marguerite White and Clara Elliott and niece Jo White.
