April 23, 1952- Nov. 25, 2017
Nathan “Wendell” Smith passed away at home Nov. 25, 2017 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Wendell was surrounded with love from his spouse, children and their spouses, and his grand kids. Most of his life Wendell worked for Donald W. Thompson Construction and later worked part-time for North Pacific Security. After a debilitating accident in August 1991, his focus became his grandchildren. Babysitting and spoiling his grandchildren became his full time job.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Izee; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Sarah Smith of Philomath; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Mike Holmgren of Lund, Nev.; and daughter and son-in law, Karen and Joe Spencer of Izee; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Teddie and Danny Smith of Coos Bay; sister and brother-in-law, Marcey and Charlie Fullerton of Coos Bay; mother-in-law, Dorothy Parrish of Myrtle Point and step-father, Don Brandon of Coos Bay. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Brandon and father, Ted Smith.
A celebration barbecue will be held in Myrtle Point in the spring per his request. Wendell loved hunting for deer and elk with his hounds. His dogs, Lightfoot, Kizzy, Sadie and Liz, will be waiting for him to go on a hunt again. We love you dad, papa and husband. Feel no more pain! Leave a loving comment at www.theworldlink.com.
