POWERS — Law enforcement is searching of Sam Youngblood, wanted on charges of strangling his girlfriend.

Coos County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Powers on Thursday. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, the complaint was made by the victim’s caregiver.

Deputies arrived to the residence and saw that the victim had obvious injuries to her face, neck and arms.

“After a brief interview, the victim told investigators her boyfriend, Sam Youngblood, had hit her, strangled her to the point of brief unconsciousness, and beat her head on the floor,” the release said.

EMTs from Myrtle Point Ambulance evaluated the victim and transported her to the Coquille Valley Hospital. However, she was then sent to River Bend Hospital in Eugene due to the seriousness of her injuries but was in stable condition at the time the press release was sent out on Friday.

“The criminal investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Coos County Medical Examiner’s Office,” the release said. “The classification of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Strangulation in this domestic abuse investigation shows the level of injury to the victim.”

Youngblood has not been located. If you have information regarding his whereabouts, call 541-396-7800.
