COOS BAY — A shooting in Coos Bay on Saturday night didn't cause any injuries, but a man was arrested for illegally firing a weapon.
According to the Coos Bay Police Department, Michael Arthur Stone was arrested shortly after the shooting, which occurred about 11:43 p.m. outside of a restaurant and bar in the 200 block of South Broadway. Police said Stone allegedly was standing outside of the restaurant and fired his gun once into the ground and a second one into the air and fled the scene on foot.
Police later spotted the suspect walking in the vicinity of Bi-Mart near the intersection of Anderson Avenue and Fourth Street. When police approached the suspect, he allegedly was uncooperative with the officer, and the responding officer deployed a Taser on the suspect and took him into custody.
Stone was booked into the Coos County Jail in Coquille on charges of menacing, felony possession of a firearm and felony unlawful use of a firearm.
