COOS BAY — A suspected mail thief was arrested Friday after deputies responded to a report of mail theft on Flanagan Road.
According to a Coos County Sheriff's Office press release, at about 12:55 p.m., deputies responded to the report of mail theft.
The Coos County Dispatch Center had received a call regarding a suspicious male and female who were hanging around the Bunker Hill water tower and had some mail from a residence in the area. The reporting party informed deputies that the male and female departed the area down Flanagan and were last seen in front of Fred Meyer in Coos Bay.
Deputies made contact with Adam Johnston in the back of the Fred Meyer parking lot. Johnston consented to a search and deputies found three suspected mail items on his person that did not belong to him. He was taken into custody for mail theft and probation violation. Johnston was transported to Coos County Jail where he was booked. He was later released on a citation.
