BANDON - Deputies arrested a man Thursday on assault charges after investigating a domestic violence incident.
Deputies and officers from the Bandon Police Department responded to the 55000 block of Rosa Road in Bandon for a report of a male and female fighting in the road. Earlier in the day, Bandon officers had been to the residence twice for similar reports but no crime was determined to have occurred. The involved parties, Brian Donaldson, 35, and Dawn Cassaro, 50, of Bandon, refused to cooperate with officers or provide them with any information in the previous calls, according to a press release.
At about 4:23 p.m., when deputies arrived, they noted Cassaro had injuries to her hands and face. Cassaro requested medical attention and Bay Cities Ambulance responded to assist. After being medically checked out by the ambulance crew, Cassaro refused to be transported to the hospital. As the deputies checked the residence, they noted several items in the home had been destroyed and several doors and walls had fresh blood on them.
Cassaro refused to say how she got her injuries, but said she was having a bad day. Donaldson told deputies they had been arguing all day, but refused to tell them how Cassaro or he got injured. Donaldson had some scratches on his face and a cut to his head. His clothes were covered in fresh blood.
Deputies spoke with two witnesses who stated they either heard or saw the two fighting.
Based on the deputies’ investigation, Donaldson was arrested on a charge of Assault IV domestic and transported to the Coos County Jail. He was booked into the Coos County Jail and held on $10,000 bail.
