BANDON — A day of drinking turned into a domestic violence situation and resulted in the arrest of a Bandon man Saturday evening, according to a Coos County Sheriff's Office press release.
At 10:44 p.m. on Feb. 17, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and the Bandon Police Department responded to the 53000 block of Rosa Road near Bandon for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim had called 911 and left the phone line open for dispatchers to hear what was happening at the residence. A reserve officer from Bandon arrived first and detained the probable suspect.
Upon their arrival at the residence, deputies observed the woman victim’s face was horribly discolored, with one eye swollen shut and also observed her bleeding from her nose. What had been a day of relaxing with whiskey ended in a violent encounter, the press release stated. At one point, the victim said she had been “choked out” and when she fought back her husband had punched her several times in the face.
Michael Youravish, 54, was arrested and charged with assault IV (domestic) and a parole violation. Youravish was transported to the Coos County Jail where he is currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
