Police arrested a Reedsport woman Sunday on a drug charge.
According to a Reedsport Police log, at 9:56 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Highway Avenue. They arrested the driver, Cheryl A. Fowler, 43, on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and driving uninsured. Fowler was in the Douglas County jail in Roseburg on $50,000 bail this morning.
Police arrested a Coos Bay man Monday on assault-related charges.
According to a press release, at about 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault at 1925 Newmark Ave. They arrested James Snellbaker, 36, on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, strangulation and a parole violation. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was being held this morning without bail.
According to the Coos County Sheriff Office log, a fight was reported at about 7:40 p.m. at 94266 West Heritage Hill Road. Deputies arrested James Albright, 41, on charges including two counts of domestic fourth-degree assault and two counts of menacing. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was being held this morning on $30,000 bail.
Police release identity
North Bend Police said it was a Coos Bay man who jumped to his death last week from the McCullogh Bridge.
Police have released the man’s identity as Tony Waters, 21, who climbed up the middle of the bridge and jumped shortly before 10 a.m. Sept. 24, according to Capt. Ron Akers. Police delayed releasing the man’s name until they could notify his family.
