COOS COUNTY — A 9-year-old boy was reported missing on Sunday by a family member.

According to a Coos County Sheriff’s press release,  deputies responded to a residence in Lakeside where the child was reported missing. According to a press release, deputies learned that the boy ran away from home following a domestic dispute between his parents.

“At about midnight, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office activated its Search and Rescue K9s to assist in the search,” the release stated. “The child was found safe away from home earlier in the evening by his father, Sandro Cardenas, who took him home and put him to bed without telling anyone, so County Search and Rescue and volunteers continued to search.”

After the child was discovered safe at 1:55 a.m. and the search called off, deputies were told that Cardenas had pulled his wife out of a vehicle by her hair. Sandro Cardenas was arrested for Domestic Harassment and transported to the Coos County Jail.

He was released on citation to appear in lieu of custody.
