BANDON – It’s a new name but the same familiar faces at First Interstate Bank.

The public is invited to attend a grand opening celebration at the bank, located at 1110 Oregon Ave. SE at the southwest corner of 11th Street and U.S. Highway 101. The celebration will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, and will include refreshments and a ribbon cutting by the Bandon Chamber of Commerce.

The event celebrates a successful transition from Bank of the Cascades to First Interstate Bank, a merger that occurred in mid-August.

“We are delighted to welcome Bank of the Cascades clients and employees to the First Interstate family,” said First Interstate President and CEO Kevin Riley.

“I thank all the employees across our footprint for working so diligently to bring our two banks together,” Riley added. “We have a fantastic team that will continue to serve our clients with exceptional commercial and consumer banking services – from robust, innovation digital banking platforms, to small business and home loans, as well as wealth management services.”

Serving the Bandon branch are Carolyn Reed, branch manager; Andrew Lossing, financial services representative; Nathan Yardley-Watson, lead teller; Christina Creamer, teller; and Chris Salazar, teller.

Lossing has been with the branch for eight years, Reed and Yardley-Watson for more than three years and Creamer and Salazar for two months, as the newest additions to the team.

“Andrew and Nathan bring a wealth of knowledge, having gone through Bank of America to Bank of the Cascades transitions and now welcoming First Interstate to the South Coast,” Reed said.

All employees at the Bandon branch are well-established in the community.

“You’ll see the same familiar faces when you come into the branch,” Reed said. “We bring our knowledge of this community to First Interstate. The three of us, having been through the transitions, realize it’s been a lot of changes quickly, but because of our experience and commitment to the relationships with our customers, we will remain consistent, guiding our customers through this most recent change.”

The First Interstate Bank Bandon branch has the same phone number it has had for years. People can call and talk to someone at the branch directly.

Keeli Gernandt continues as the bank’s mortgage loan officer. Gernandt was with Bank of the Cascades and Reed said she is a “great local resource for lending needs.”

The bank’s drive-through is once again open and the branch is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. An ATM is located outside at the front of the building. The branch's phone number is 541-347-9422.

Each month, First Interstate features a local business, nonprofit or local artist in its bay window. In September, it was Bandon Showcase. This month it is Riverview Gems & Gifts.
