Authorities have canceled health advisories for contact with marine water at Heceta Beach in Lane County and Harris Beach in Curry County.

The Oregon Health Authority's Public Health Division had issued the advisories on Thursday, after water samples at Heceta Beach and Harris Beach showed higher-than-normal levels of enterococcus, a type of fecal bacteria. Subsequent testing showed the contamination had subsided.

No South Coast beach advisories are currently in effect. However, health advisories for Tenmile Lake and Sru Lake near Powers remain in effect because of toxic algae blooms.

The status of health advisories for Oregon waters can be checked at www.healthoregon.org/hab for lakes and www.healthoregon.org/beach for beaches.
