Unfortunately That Viral ‘Friends’ Movie Trailer Is Fake, Here’s What Jennifer Aniston Has To Say About It

Have you seen that viral video that’s been going around social media, purporting to be a trailer for a “Friends” movie? According to the movie trailer, we will be blessed with a “Friends” movie as early as spring 2018. The trailer, which was viewed over 48 million times, has fans so excited. After all, ’90s reboots are doing so well these days, with shows like “Roseanne,” “Sister, Sister” and “Charmed” getting much-hyped revivals. So it only stands to reason that one of the most popular television shows of all time would get a 2018 update.

There’s just one problem with the much-viewed trailer for the “Friends” movie.

It’s totally fake.

Yes. A complete scam.

Um, could I BE any more annoyed!?

The video was first posted on Facebook by someone named William Ferrell, but the user has since changed their Facebook name to Funny Inc. And the video itself is still making the rounds on Facebook, fooling a lot of hopeful fans:

Sigh. I hate to be the bearer of bad news for these people, but there is NO “Friends” movie in the works.

And here’s something funny: Jennifer Aniston recently told television presenter Lorraine Kelly that Facebook itself is partly to blame for the lack of a “Friends” update. Yep. She doesn’t think the concept of “Friends” (six buddies hanging out together in their favorite coffee shop or in their apartments) would work in today’s era of smartphones and social media.

She said, “I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic, you know, there’s something about a time—and I think why people have such an affection for it—there was something about a time when our faces weren’t shoved into cell phones and we weren’t checking Facebook and Instagram. We were in a room together, or in a coffee shop together and we were talking. And we’ve lost that.”

There might be some truth there. But, hey, you can’t blame fans for hoping! Just make sure you don’t fall for rumors of a reunion until you hear it directly from one of the actors themselves.
