COOS BAY — Celebrate National Women’s History Month with style. The Coos History Museum will present “History, Hankies, and Her Accessories” with featured guest speaker LaRee Johnson, historic costume expert, from Victoriana. Live entertainment will be provided by Coos Bay crooner, Shaymus Hanlin. The luncheon will run 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with check-in beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12. The presentation will take place in the Sprague Gallery of Coos History Museum.
Johnson, a 37-year collector of vintage clothing, member of the Costume Society of America and National Button Society, lives in historic Astoria. Although her purpose is to preserve vintage fashion, it is always a pleasure to open her closets and trunks and share her collection with Nostalgic Fashion Presentations. She authored and photographed Ladies’ Vintage Accessories, a 333-page comprehensive value and identification guide in hardback on ladies accessories from mid-1800’s to modern. The book went into four editions selling nationwide.
Tickets are $40 for Coos History Museum members, $45 for non-members. Admission includes a catered lunch. Seating is limited and tickets for this event must be purchased in advance.
