NORTH BEND — North Bend High School Hesperian Players fall production, "Exhibit This! The Museum Comedies" opens this weekend.
The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art comes to life at North Bend High School multipurpose room as the Hesperian Players present their fall drama production of Exhibit This! The Museum Comedies by Luigi Jannuzzi. Under the direction of Marcia Marchant, this fun evening of art and antiquities will be brought to life by the students. The production is a fast-paced series of seven comedic plays, six monologues based on 50-plus works of art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
What happens when paintings, sculpture, antiquities, and drawings emerge from their frames? Mix in artists, guards, lovers, curators and one very special night, and you have ... Exhibit This! The Museum of Comedies, a perfect cross-curricular appreciation of art through the use of dramas.
This show marks Marcia Marchant's 10th year as drama director at North Bend High School. "I always look for a fall production that allows multiple students a chance to shine and explore as actors and crew; This show does just that. Each piece was directed by a senior actor with my help," said Marchant. She lets students explore the art of directing and see the show from a different point of view.
"We have a great year lined up. We are opening the season with this, winter will bring to life "The Witches" by David Wood, based upon the work of Roald Dahl, the author of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "James and the Giant Peach," a delightful family production. Spring is slated to be a murder mystery, an audience participation play," added Marchant.
All shows will be held in the North Bend High School multipurpose room, which if fully accessible. Exhibit This! The Museum Comedies performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday through Nov. 19. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students
