COOS BAY — The Coos Bay Downtown Association will present the 2017 Bay Area Fun Festival Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17, in downtown Coos Bay. The festival will feature family fun, tasty food and live entertainment during the two-day community celebration and visitors can enjoy the vendor market located on Central Avenue between Highway 101 and Fourth Street. The Bay Area Fun Festival Parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with this year’s theme is “Oh, The Places You’ll Go Coos County!” Parade participants are encouraged to decorate their entries keeping with this theme and best decorated entries will be eligible for prizes.
Staging for the parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Golden Avenue and South Fourth Street, the same time the annual Prefontaine Memorial Run will be taking place. The Pre Run for Kids will take place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. The annual Cruz the Coos, featuring nearly 500 vintage automobiles, will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, with staging and registration at 5 p.m. on Second and Golden. This event is organized by the Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club. More information is available at http://cruzthecoos.com
Other events taking place during the Bay Area Fun Festival include the Rock and Gem Show in the Fourth Street parking lot near 7 Devils Brewing Co. where there will be live music all day. There also will be a beer garden provided by Walt’s Pourhouse and K-DOCK's Music Festival featuring the finalists of Bay Area Teen Idol.
