Hugh and Jacki Pinkston celebrated 50 years of marriage June 25 with a buffet lunch and reception. The couple renewed their vows and enjoyed cake at Coquille Nazarene Church.
Hugh and Jacki were married June 3, 1967, at Temple City Church of the Nazarene. Hugh graduated from Coquille High School in 1962. Jaci graduated from Queen Anne High School, in Seattle, Wash., in 1965. They met at Pasadena Nazarene College, graduating in 1970. Hugh served in the Army in Dachau, Germany, from 1968-69. Their love for travel began there as they drove around Europe.
Hugh worked 30 years for the state of Oregon as a social worker with senior services. Jaci was a teacher for 42 years, with 32 of those being in Coquille, four years in Dohoa, Qatar, Middle East, and six years at Kingsview Christian, in North Bend. They have traveled to all seven continents, and have many friends around the world.
They have a son, Derek Pinkston, who lives in Eugene, and a daughter, Adrea Pinkston Woodruff, and husband Corey, who live in Forest Grove. Four grand children, Thorne, Briar, Zoe, Saffron, bring joy to their family. The Pinkstons were foster parents for 20 years, and have hosted over 20 exchange students. A trip to New Zealand, Australia and Fiji, in January, began the celebration. Hugh is busy with the Coquille Food Bank, SMART reading program, and with his church, Coquille Narazrene Church. He is serving on the Coquille City Council. Jaci has been a 4-H leader for 34 years. She keeps busy with the SMART reading program, Sawdust Theatre, Kiwanis Club and Key Club adviser at Coquille High School.
