Raymond and Dollie Austin celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Nov. 1, 2016. The couple was married Nov 1, 1952, in North Bend.
Dollie "Noah" Austin was born and raised in Coos Bay. She was married at 15 years old, and has worked 32 years as a cook for the Coos Bay School District. Raymond L. Austin was born in Oklahoma, coming to live in Coos Bay at the age of 3. He worked as a logger until his retirement.
They have five children; Alice and Jim Burns, of Florence; Dan and Elaine Austin, of Dallas, Ore.; Rick and Martha Austin, of Central Point; Don Austin, of Craig, Alaska; and Debbie and Tom Nicholls, of North Bend. They have 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Their children surprised them with a 25th anniversary celebration at the same little white church they were married at in North Bend. They hosted another surprise celebration for their 60 year anniversary at the Nazarene Church in Florence. This year, all five children and their spouses spent a weekend of love, laughs and memories with their parents.
A highlight of their 64 years together was a trip with their children to the Rosebowl on New Years Day 2015.
The couple currently resides at Greentrees Village, in Florence. They both say that everyday they feel very blessed to be together and living in such a wonderful place.
