Allen and Nancy Williams will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary from 2-4 p.m., April 20 at 93816 Driftwood Inn Lane in North Bend.
Allen and Nancy have lived in North Bend for 48 years of their 50-year marriage. They have three children: Bobbie, married to David Sotin; Leon Williams; and Tina, who is married to Jeff Woomer. All have made their home in North Bend.
Allen had worked as a supervisor at a broom handle mill in Coos Bay. He then went on to do what came naturally, auto body and paint. He owned Empire Body Shop for several years, eventually moving his business back to his home and re-opened as A & L Auto Repair. He will be 70 next year and still tries to do work at his home.
Nancy stayed home to raise their three children, who are only one year apart in age. Later she helped Allen at his shop doing anything she could to help out. In the last 10 years, Allen and Nancy have both worked for seniors and those with disabilities. Nancy is now retired, spending time with her mother, Ethel Williamson, who in now living with them.
They both are enjoying their six grandchildren; Geanna, her husband Jason Berrier and their son, Hunter; Victoria Emerson and her life partner Levi Whartonand; their three kids, Elyssia, Clayten, Conner, Leon Jr., and Willow Williams; Kristin Woomer, going to school at Oregon Institute of Technology; and Erica Woomer is attending Southwestern Oregon Community College; all have made this area there home.
