According to the recent audit conducted by the Oregon Secretary of State: "State planning efforts for a catastrophic disaster are incomplete and inadequate." “Critical plans to ensure continuity of government services in the wake of a disaster are either missing or incomplete." (http://sos.oregon.gov/audits/Documents/2018-03.pdf).
Now, read that again. Did you catch, “Critical plans to ensure continuity of government services ..."?
This translates to, "The government is not planning on saving you, it is planning on saving the government."
In other words, in the event of an earthquake or similar event, you're on your own!
Southwestern Oregon Preppers (SWOP) will be conducting Disaster Planning Workshops at their monthly meetings in 2018. At these workshops, attendees will be working on written disaster plans.
This report is a wake-up call. The Cascadia earthquake/tsunami event is not the only disaster for which you need to be prepared. But rather than focus on particular disaster scenarios, SWOP will show you how to have all the bases covered for sheltering in place, evacuating and getting home. When a disaster happens, you will have to do at least one of those three.
Remember, disasters come in two flavors, those that give you a warning and those that don't. The question is are you prepared?
