Letter to the Editor

Port Orford Head Start would like to share a heartfelt thank you to our local Port Orford Community Quilters Corner and the Rotary for their generous donations.

South Coast Head Start promotes school readiness of young children from low-income families. Our birth to 5 programs support the mental, social, and emotional development of children. In addition to education services, we provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social and other services.

Port Orford Head Start would like to take the opportunity to thank those individuals involved in our blanket drive. Thank you to Vicki Young from the Quilters' Corner and the Port Orford Quilters Club, Judy Wiley, Linda Wilcox, Nancy Ruby, Carol McDonald, Elaine Small, Katherine Heckart. This summer, Vicki and The Quilters Club not only made 36 cuddly fleece blankets for our students. Additionally, thank you to Carol Currier for making three quilts for those children that need a little more weight for them to rest comfortably.

We would like to thank The Friends of St. John's for covering the cost of the fabric.

Further, we would like to send warmest thank you to the Port Orford Rotary for their continuous work and support at our Port Orford Head Start school. During summer break the Club put in new gutters on our school, replaced the siding and painted the exterior. On Aug. 24, the Rotary Club members joined our Head Start staff for our annual cleaning day. Thank you to the Club for pressure washing the school and cleaning up the playground.

On behalf of our entire team at Port Orford Head Start we would like to sincerely thank our Port Orford Community Partners for helping make a difference in our children and families lives.

Thank you.
