COOS COUNTY -- The Coos County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam that is once again circulating in the Coos County area where an unknown person calls people, uses a deputy’s name, references local judges and tells them they have warrants for their arrest.
The Sheriff's Office reminds the public that any phone call where someone is asking for money and/or threatens you with arrest is a scam. Law enforcement personnel would never call anyone to threaten them or ask for money. The calls may appear to come from a local area code but most likely are coming from out of the county or from criminals in prison.
Anyone who receives such a call should immediately report it to their local law enforcement agency.
