Miss Coos County 2017

Brittany Crutchfield was crowned Miss Coos County 2017 in February. The program is seeking applicants for 2018.

COOS COUNTY — Young woman ages 13 to 24 are invited to apply to participate in the 2018 Miss Coos County Scholarship Program. Applications are being accepted until Oct. 21.

The 2017 Miss Coos County is Brittany Crutchfield and Miss Coos County Outstanding Teen is Sammie Huffman.

The Miss Coos County and Miss Coos County Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageants "The Road Less Traveled," will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus.

Since 1981, the Miss Coos County Scholarship Program has provided opportunities for young women to achieve their personal and professional ambitions. Contestants learn the importance of, and participate in, community service and develop leadership skills that help them excel in their chosen paths and life goals. A not-for-profit affiliate of the Miss America Organization, the Miss Coos County Scholarship program has made available scholarships and in-kind funds to qualified young women throughout Coos County. The winner of the annual Miss Coos County Scholarship Pageant is eligible to compete in the Miss Oregon competition, held in Seaside in June.

The Miss Coos County Outstanding Teen is a program for young women 13-17 years of age. The mission of this program is to promote positive scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement. By helping nurture and build their poise and self-confidence they have the opportunity "to be the individual they want to be." The winner of the Miss Coos County Outstanding Teen will be eligible to compete in the Miss Oregon's Outstanding Teen competition, also held in Seaside in June.

The Miss Coos County Outstanding Princess Program is for young ladies ages 6-10. This program was implemented to give young women the opportunity to mentor a little sister and show through example that "Little girls with dreams become women with vision."
