BANDON - Several Harbor Lights Middle School students will attend the Oregon Music Education Association All-State Elementary and Middle School Honor Choirs in Eugene on Jan. 11-13.

The students will attend with Bandon School District kindergarten-eighth grade music specialist and choir director Holly Sylvester. Attending from fifth grade will be Travis Ornbaun, Sydni Napier, January Bressman and Alexandria Butler. Honor choir students will spend the day in rehearsals with a top elementary school choir clinician, spend the night with other choir students and sing in concert at the Eugene Hilton on Saturday morning, Jan. 13. The fifth-graders were selected by Sylvester.

Also attending will be eighth-grader Angelina Morones and seventh-grader Emma Killough. They will spend two days rehearsing with a top middle school choir clinician and will perform a concert at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts on Friday evening, Jan. 12. Angelina and Emma were selected by a state committee through a submission process that included digital recordings.

Bandon-By-The-Sea Rotary Club has donated to help the students with travel expenses for the honor choir events.

"Bandon Rotary has generously supported HLMS All-State Honor Choir students for the last four years so all students can afford to attend, regardless of family financial circumstances," Sylvester said. "We are so appreciative of their support. The students are excited about this wonderful experience."
