BANDON —  A single-vehicle crash in Bandon, reported at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, damaged the traffic signal at 11th Street and U.S. Highway 101, one of the busiest intersections in town.

Driver of the vehicle, Al Sherman, 66, of Bandon, suffered a seizure and lost control of his full-sized pick-up, which then rammed into off a power pole at the northwest corner of the intersection in front of Core 10 Fitness. Sherman was not injured, but taken to Bay Area Hospital for observation.

Drivers were advised to use caution and watch for workers as flaggers provided traffic control throughout the evening and into Wednesday evening, when the traffic light was finally repaired. It took a couple more days to repair the damaged phone lines, which also provided access to the Internet at nearby businesses and residential areas.
