COOS BAY – Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Small Business Development Center is offering people a chance to explore their dreams of starting a business. The Southwestern SBDC is offering a workshop titled “Ready Set Start Your Business” weekly in December.

The two-hour workshop provides information on important steps that can contribute to a new venture’s success. Participants learn about licensing, business legal structure, financing, business planning, business resources and more. Handouts in the class are informational and provide all the contact information needed to register a business and get started.

The workshop is designed to answer general questions. If, after completing the workshop, there are people interested in pursuing their new business idea, the Southwestern SBDC can set them up with a business adviser to discuss specific questions they may have that pertain directly to their venture. SBDC advising services are free and confidential.

The "Ready Set Start Your Business" workshop is scheduled on a variety of dates and times throughout the month. On the first Monday of the month, a Ready, Set, Start Your Business class will be offered in Spanish from 10 a.m.-noon. Participants can choose from any one of the following dates:

10 a.m.-noon Monday, Dec. 4. Class will be taught in Spanish.

10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Dec. 7.

2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.
