EUGENE - Gary Collins has been hired as the Eugene market president at First Interstate Bank. Collins came to First Interstate with over 28 years of experience in the finance industry. As market president, he will oversee branches located in Lane, Douglas and Coos County.
Prior to First Interstate Bank, Collins spent 12 years with Umpqua Bank, most recently as Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking. He also has 12 years of experience within the asset-based lending industry in various capacities working for some of the most prestigious companies in the United States, such as General Electric (GE Capital) and Textron Financial. Collins started his career working for one of the largest public accounting firms, PricewaterhouseCoopers, in their audit and assurance department.
Collins received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School, the premier national graduate school of banking at the University of Washington.
Collins has been active throughout his career in various industry associations as well as an active volunteer in his community. Since 2007, he has been an adviser for Junior Achievement of Western Oregon, and served four years as chairman, receiving the bronze leadership award in 2013. He has also volunteered his time for Habitat for Humanity and FOOD for Lane County.
