BANDON - In the spirit of the season, Banner Bank employees have given back to the community.

Employees decided to donate part of their corporate discretionary funds, $500, to Bandon Feeds the Hungry. Then they raised an additional $100 from clients and gathered 100 pounds of non-perishable food from staff and clients that was also donated to the local food assistance organizations.

The funds donated to Bandon Feeds the Hungry benefit all five food organizations in Bandon, including Good Neighbors Food Bank, Coastal Harvest Gleaners, Everyone At Table, Senior Meals and the Restoration Worship Center Food Pantry.

Banner Bank branches in Oregon, Washington, California and some in Idado as a whole raised $25,000 for local food banks and 22,000 items of food, said Bandon Branch Manager and Assistant Vice-President David Hisel.

"Each branch chooses what they want to support in the community," Hisel said. "We try to spread those funds around, and support kids programs and seniors programs, among others. We've been supporting our local food banks for several years."

Employees at the Bandon branch of Banner Bank have been dedicated to serving the community. Andrea McMahon, senior personal banker, has been with the bank for almost eight years. Shay Williams, teller, almost 10. Pete Wayrynen, four months, and Hisel for four and a half years. Tyler Kinney, customer service manager, has also recently returned to the Bandon branch after working at the Coquille branch. Kinney has been with Banner for four years.

Banner Bank was named the "Best Regional Bank of 2017" by Bankrate.com.

In addition, J.D. Power recently ranked Banner Bank "highest in customer service satisfaction with retail banking in the Northwest." 

To earn that distinction, Banner Bank received the highest numerical score in the Northwest region in the J.D. Power 2017 Retail Banking Satisfaction Study, based on 3,894 total responses from eight companies measuring experiences and perceptions of customers, surveyed April 2016-February 2017. "I feel like we're on a pretty good roll right now," Hisel said. "We definitely love the clients we have. We also have the best team we could have assembled right now. I think our success goes to show that we heavily invest back into our community with time, money and efforts. We want to stay the number one choice in the community."
