May 14

6:23 a.m., moved traffic hazard from roadway in the area of U.S. Highway 101 and 17th Street.

8 a.m., gas station attendant in the 400 block of Second Street did not give back correct change. Determined to be civil matter, handled.

8:53 a.m., suspicious conditions in the 700 block of Caroline Street. Vacant residence with open door and lights on. Secured residence, unknown cause. No signs of forced entry.

10:32 a.m., request for file from resident in the 1100 block of Sixth Street Southeast on theft that occurred about a year ago. File number issued, determined to be civil matter.

12:07 p.m., mental subject, woman on cell phone at Face Rock viewpoint reported seeing a man in a white van who had a knife and was throwing things on the ground and stabbing them. Handled.

2:45 p.m., intoxicated person sleeping in the grass in the 900 block of Michigan Avenue behind Ray’s Food Place. Left prior to officer’s arrival.

3:04 p.m., vehicle parts in roadway on Morrison Road. Requested Bandon Police Department check the area. Gone upon arrival.

6:12 p.m., probation violation on June Avenue, intoxicated man hollering at people. Man with brown leather jacket, jeans. Arrested Carlyle Sands, 51, of Bandon, on a charge of probation violation per probation officer out of Douglas County. Transferred to the Coos County jail.

6:36 p.m., criminal trespass in progress in the 92000 block of Highway 42S. Sent attempt to locate. Unable to locate any trespassers.

10:14 p.m., custodial interference in the 800 block of Ninth Street Southwest. Child’s father refusing to give Medford woman her child. Civil problem, woman advised to get order through the courts.

11:20 p.m., keys taken from vehicle in the 120 block of Eighth Street Southwest. Report taken.

May 15

11:10 a.m., assisted Oregon State Police on Highway 101 and Marine Avenue in North Bend.

11:49 a.m., boyfriend threatening to turn woman in to her probation officer in the 800 block of First Street Northeast. Contacted, will handle through probation officer.

1:20 p.m., person at City Hall asking for utility assistance. Referred to Bandon Ministerial Association.

2:42 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., citizen at police department to turn in expired medications to be destroyed.

8:25 p.m., person in the 1100 block of Ninth Street Southeast said she possibly heard transients in the bushes behind her house. Woods checked. She will call back if she hears anything again.

8:33 p.m., resident walking at the South Jetty found a wallet. Seized for safekeeping.

8:43 p.m., suspicious vehicle in the Parkersburg Road, Bear Creek area. Assisted Coos County Sheriff’s Office, which is handing the case. Driver arrested on charges of criminal trespassing, second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree theft.

9:07 p.m., man walking in woman’s driveway in the 56000 block of Prosper Junction. May have gone into the bushes.

May 16

9:02 a.m., out on civil standby in the 1100 block of Eighth Street Northeast.

1:13 p.m., disabled vehicle in the area of North Bank and East Beaver Hill Road.

2:32 p.m., warrant service attempted on Fifth Street Northeast. Unable to locate person.

 3:04 p.m., assisted with vehicle lock out at Price ‘n Pride, 65 10th Street S.E.

3:17 p.m., shoplifter cited on a charge of third-degree theft at Price ‘n Pride. Told to leave location.

7:07 p.m., dog at large in the area of North Avenue. Small, white with brown ears. People are going to try to get someone at the church to keep the dog.

7:27 p.m., as the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue arrested Denny Elliott, 53, of Coos Bay on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Refused BAC test. Taken to the Coos County jail.

May 17

7:27 a.m., Bandon officer reported to be looking for suspicious person in the area of Highway 42S and North Avenue. Unable to locate.

9:51 a.m., assisted outside agency in the 1000 block of Seventh Street Northeast.

12:16 p.m., person at police department to pick up bike that was stolen approximately six months ago. Item returned to owner.

1:56 p.m., request for phone number to report damage to city property in the area of Oberman Lane and U.S. Highway 101. Phone number issued.

3:14 p.m., request phone number to report theft of tools in the 300 block of Riverside Drive. Report taken.

3:45 p.m., as the result of a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Highway 101 and Chicago Avenue arrested Robert Nardone, 51, of Portland, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. BAC .15 percent. Taken to Coos County jail.

4:24 p.m., hit and run reported in the 1000 block of First Street Southeast that occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Report taken.

6:47 p.m., person released from hospital, caller in the 900 block of Fifth Street concerned he will come to the clinic tomorrow.

7:17 p.m. welfare check in the 800 block of Ninth Street Southeast. Advised ex has 8-month old boy. No custody arrangement. Checked, child is fine.

9:54 p.m., possible minors in possession of alcohol. Person hears six or seven people chanting, “Take a shot” in the 1500 block of Harvard Street. Unable to locate any juveniles.

May 18

12:01 a.m., person is on probation and is causing a verbal dispute in the 1500 block of Harvard Street. Attempted contact with suspect, he would not open the door. All quiet upon arrival.

12:50 a.m., criminal trespassing by two boys, 13 and 15 years old, in the Bandon boat basin on the fishing vessel Encore. Suspects detained, then released to their mothers.

10:50 a.m., Bullards Beach State Park employees requested assistance processing burglary scene at Coquille River Lighthouse.

12:15 p.m., phone harassment reported in the 800 block of First Street Southeast. Handled.

12:17 p.m., suspicious subjects, group of juveniles went into a wooded area near the Bandon High School softball field. Found narcotics, juvenile referred for possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

12:48 p.m., harassment by neighbor reported in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue Southeast.

3:41 p.m., Curry County bus driver reported a large box and broken glass in the roadway south of Bullards Bridge.

6:53 p.m., threats in City Park. Kid at the park threatening subjects upon leaving. Not as reported, 9-year-old threatened to go get his dad.

7:52 p.m., possible child neglect reported in the area of Bluff Street.

May 19

9:16 a.m., woman on cell phone called to complain of a champagne-colored full sized Ford pick-up northbound at a high rate of speed, making bad passes.

11:27 a.m., car with flatbed, possibly a Ford, weaving in lane, nearly ran off road. Headed toward U.S. Highway 101. Advised Oregon State Police in case it goes north.

Investigation is continuing into a reported burglary at the Coquille River Lighthouse at Bullards Beach State Park in Bandon.

According to an Oregon State Police press release, an unsuccessful attempt to gain entrance into the lighthouse sometime on Friday, May 18, ended when the suspect was apparently injured during the process.

Evidence was collected from the scene and sent to the crime lab for analysis, according to the report.
