LANGLOIS - The Langlois Public Library offers the following events:
Holiday Craft Fair
Start the season with a visit to the 22nd annual Holiday Craft Fair at the Lions Hall on Floras Loop Road just south of Langlois.
The Holiday Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and Nov. 18 and is sponsored by the Langlois Lions and the Friends of the Langlois Library.
Talented South Coast artists and craftspeople will be displaying an array of creations, which will make shopping for holiday gifts a pleasure, according to organizers.
"Whether you are looking for a gift of wood, metal, fiber or locally grown food, you will find unique and surprising gifts at the Langlois Holiday Craft Fair," said a spokeswoman.
Bring a friend and enjoy lunch by Sandie McDonald. Friday, McDonald is serving her chicken pot pie. Saturday, Icelandic Meat Stew and thunder bread are on the menu. Vegetarian options are available.

Interesting Langlois Presents Helen Picca, author of "The Last Frontier of the Fading West" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Langlois Public Library. "The Last Frontier of the Fading West" is a work of historical fiction. Set in October, 1942, a tanker that is torpedoed off the coast of Port Orford, thus beginning a story rich in history, of love and life by the sea.
Picca is a former marketing executive from New York City and holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from Marymount College, where she learned to love the written word. She visited Port Orford several years ago quite by accident and fell in love with the place. Since that fateful day, she has been living there and enjoying the many wonders of the Oregon Coast.
OHP assistance offered
Coast Community Health Center will be providing Oregon Health Plan assistance at from 3-6 p.m on Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Langlois library. CCHC's certified assister will be able to complete new and renewal OHP applications, as well as answer any questions about the Oregon Health Plan. This service is free, confidential and open to all.

A Night at the Library
Langlois Public Library presents A Night at the Library, a movie night, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
Everyone is welcome to join others for a holiday movie and snack on some holiday treats. The audience can choose from six movies, including "It’s a Wonderful Life," "The Polar Express," "Die Hard," "Holiday Inn," "Arthur Christmas," and "The Muppet’s Christmas Carol." Those who have a favorite are encouraged to bring it and the group will vote that evening.
"Bring a comfy pillow, some snacks to share, but above all bring yourself and enjoy one of these holiday classics," said a library spokeswoman.

Play and Learn Story Time
The Langlois Public Library is partnering with Kaleidoscope Play & Learn to bring an interactive Play and Learn Story Time to parents or guardians and their child (0-5 years). There will be stories, crafts, game playing, and children will have fun while learning. The Play and Learn Story Time will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 1, 8, and 15. SCBEC representative available
A representative from South Coast Business Employment Corporation/Worksource Oregon will be available the third Tuesday of every month at the Langlois library. The next event will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Job seekers and business representatives are encouraged to stop by to discuss available services. Classroom training and on-the-job training programs are available for eligible individuals. SCBEC currently provides certified nurse assistant training at the Coos Bay SCBEC corporate headquarters. Appointments may be made by calling Mo Aakre at 541-751-8506.
