LANGLOIS - "Land of Fire and Ice, Trolls and Elves: An Interesting Langlois Event" with Deanna McDermott and Sandie McDonald, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Langlois Public Library.

Explore Iceland’s most magnificent features and unique customs as McDermott and McDonald talk about their separate seasonal trips. Learn about unique culinary traditions, fascinating landscapes, and insights into fiber work as you try Icelandic foods prepared by McDonald.

SCBEC representative coming

A representative from South Coast Business Employment Corporation will be available from 12:30-3:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month at the Langlois Library with the following upcoming dates: Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. Job seekers and business representatives are encouraged to stop by to discuss available services. Classroom training and on-the-job training programs are available for eligible individuals.

SCBEC currently provides certified nurses assistant training at the Coos Bay corporate headquarters. Appointments may be made by calling Mo Aakre at 541-751-8506.

OHP assistance available

Coast Community Health Center will provide Oregon Health Plan assistance from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Langlois Public Library. A certified assister from CCHC will be able to complete new and renewal OHP applications, as well as answer any questions about Oregon Health Plan. This service is free, confidential and open to all.
