BANDON - The Bandon Library Friends & Foundation (BLFF/ sponsor the following events this month:

Holiday Book Sale

The Bandon Public Library's annual Holiday Book Sale will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the library's Sprague Community Room.

From 10 a.m.-noon, the sale is open to members only (join at the door for $5); from noon-4 p.m., everyone is welcome. Quality, gently-used books and other media have been set aside specifically for this sale. Holiday music and homemade cookies put everyone in the mood. Every year, patrons tell library staff and volunteers how thrilled they are with their purchases from the sale - some they use for holiday gifts.

This year's sale will also feature a quilt raffle. Made and donated by BLFF member Melody Rogovoy, this beautiful batik quilt has been on display in the library cases. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will take place at 3 p.m. during the book sale.

All proceeds from the sale benefit the Bandon Library.

Classic Film Night

Classic Film Night at the Bandon library will feature "Driving Miss Daisy" (Warner Bros 1989 color 100 min.) at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11. Starring Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman and directed by Bruce Beresford, "Driving Miss Daisy" tells the story of a friendship that develops over 25 years between a highly independent Jewish matron and a stalwart (and very patient) African-American chauffeur.

There is no cost to attend, everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.

Library Readers Book Club

The Bandon Library Readers Book Club will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18, (instead of the usual 7 p.m.) This month's selection is "Astrophysics for People in A Hurry" by Neil deGrasse Tyson. It is a 2017 popular science book centering around a number of basic questions about the universe. The book club will also select books for next year, so be sure to come with suggestions.

Everyone is welcome to join for lively discussion, whether or not they've read the book. Refreshments will be served. For more information, email Sabrina Johnson or Karen Thomas at
