Boardwalk Art Show winners announced

BANDON - Congratulations to artists in the 2017 Port of Bandon Boardwalk Art Show “Blossoms Butterflies and Bees.” Ribbons and cash prizes were presented to winning artists on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the boardwalk amphitheater.

Winners in the youth category: 1st Joslynn Reloba, 2nd Rhiannon Green, and 3rd Jacob Michael Kappa. Teen category winners: 1st Brock Adams, 2nd Eleanor Winston, and 3rd Megan Noel. Adult category winners: 1st Debora Greaves, 2nd Ellen Chapman, 3rd Michelle Hanna and Sandra Koshover.

People’s Choice prizes were awarded to Ruby Toole-Jackson in the youth/teen category and to Jason Sparks in the adult category.

The 15th annual boardwalk show was one of the largest yet, with 240 entries on display the length of the boardwalk from the boat launch to the high dock, in the picnic shelter, and at Bandon Bait and Tackle. Winning entries with additional honorees will be featured in an encore exhibit at the Bandon Professional Center Dec. 2017 through Jan. 2018.

Art show judges this year were Port of Bandon Commissioner Reg Pullen, Oregon Coast Magazine editor Emily Kolkemo and Southern Coos Hospital CEO JoDee Tittle. Show curators were Ava Richey and Shawn Tempesta. Guest art instructor Vicki Affatati facilitated student work through the Bandon School District. The show was presented by the Port of Bandon and sponsored by the Bandon Professional Center.
