LANGLOIS - Johann Sebastian Bach's 333rd birthday is coming up on March 31 and local musicians are celebrating by inviting the public to a Bach Birthday Party and Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday April 8, at the Langlois Cheese Factory, 94179 Allen Boice Drive in "World Famous" Langlois.
On the program: Bach's famous Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 as well as pieces for smaller ensembles - flute and piano, violin and piano, recorder and piano and solo cello. Local musicians include violinists Sarah Mautner and Ben Bean, violist Lisa Jarvis, cellist Kimberly Wurster, flautists Heidi Connelly and Suzanne Monks, keyboardists Stephanie Hazle and Crystal Landucci, and Strider Kachelein on recorder.
It is rumored that Johann Sebastian Bach himself may be in attendance, as well as other special guests.
Port Orford's Donna Roselius, artist and musician whose Roaring Sea Arts Studio open houses have promoted live music and the spoken word on the South Coast for many years, will be honored at the event.
Intermission coffee and pastries by Bandon Coffee Cafe will be available. Tickets are $10 and available at Bandon Mercantile, Langlois Market, Hawthorne Gallery in Port Orford, and Tuesday-Sunday evenings at Angelo's Italy Restaurant in Bandon.
The event is presented by The Dead Composers' Fan Club and Composer Comix. It is sponsored by Cardas Audio and Bain Insurance.
