Congress slowly consolidates power

The public forum section of The World addresses a variety of views and opinions regarding the various problems that are plaguing our nations today. Some of these letters indicate a firm grasp of the political structure that has led us to our current situation.

It is very difficult to ascertain what the general public uses as their guidelines for rectifying our problems. This nation was founded as a republic, with a constitution specifically established a separation of power between the divisions of government that the people would select, then and in the future, to assure its continuity.

Please re-read the Constitution. Of the many restrictions the Constitution placed upon the role of government, one of the key mandates was that only Congress shall have the right to coin money and regulate the value thereof. For the United States, 1913 was the year of infamy. Many people are aware of the income tax amendment that was ratified in February of that year. Some people are aware of the abrogation of the right to coin money to a cartel of international bankers to be known as the Federal Reserve in December of that year. What very few citizens of this nation realize is that in April of that year, Congress ratified the 17th Amendment which effectively negated states’ rights and gave complete control of the government to the international banking cartel.

Our founding fathers never envisioned the people we chose to represent us would evolve into lifetime career occupations. Nothing in our Constitution addresses a national government role in the education of our children or of a national health care system. The only purpose for the Supreme Court was to determine if a proposal by the Legislative or Executive branch was constitutional.

People keep pointing fingers at this president or that president without stopping to think that the president can only do what Congress allows him to do. Members of my family have served in various wars including World War I. We all took an oath to defend the Constitution and this nation against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. The same oath our representatives take when they are sworn into office. I still honor mine.

This nation is losing both our freedom and future leaders, as our youth are being destroyed in the process of empire building. Why? Because there is no profit in peace.

We haven't had a serious war in 60 years. We have had relative peace all of that time. Bes, what are you talking about? I get the impression that you went on spring break in 1974 and never came back.

Gee, I think he is right...
Can I have slaves?
My wife doesn't like to vote either so that's a plus.

Citizens like Mr. West seem to forget that there was no 'National' then, that our landscape and indeed, public needs have changed greatly.

Now, we do agree on the politician as an occupation is a bad thing, very bad.
