Few details released on assault victim

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 |
Coos Bay investigators aren’t saying much about their investigation into the sexual assault of a woman in a college dorm room.
Someone attacked the woman early Thursday morning at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay.
Police Capt. Cal Mitts said officers are continuing to investigate the incident, but have no new information for the public.
Police officers said the woman told police she did not know the identity of the culprit or culprits. On Friday, the college sent out notices for students and employees, listing assault prevention tips recommended by Coos Bay police.
Mitts said he expects to release more information to the media and public soon. He had nothing further to release this morning.
