Councilor appeals to Lakeside voters

Monday, November 02, 2009 |
In the 2008 election the good people of Lakeside voted into office four new councilors on a platform of open and honest government.
Five councilors have worked in harmony on their election promises. Without cooperation from Mayor Nelson, we: Instituted an open records policy, a fair sealed bid process for expenditures, an equitable personnel structure, hired an honest city attorney at substantial monetary savings, updated hiring policies to protect against litigation enabled by past and negligent hiring and retention practices.
In opposition to this work has stood a mayor intent on regaining control of the funds and power that he and his hand-picked council previously enjoyed. To this end, he and his “crew” have coerced, bullied and slandered city employees, councilors and citizens alike.
Mayor Nelson is out of touch and out of control. He does not have the best interests of Lakeside at heart. He will attempt to destroy what he cannot control.
Please vote “no” to keep me in office, where I will push for an even more open government.
Should the recall succeed, all the progress would be undone. The good old boys who were already voted out would once again control Lakeside.
