Coos Bay police have arrested an 18-year-old North Bend man who they believe could be responsible for multiple vehicle break-ins that have occurred around the community.

At about 3:55 a.m., on Sunday, Coos Bay Police Department dispatchers received a report that someone was going through vehicles at the Parkside Village apartment complex at 324 N. Ackerman St. There, officers learned that five vehicles had been entered. An iPod and $300 were reported missing from the automobiles, said Coos Bay Capt. Cal Mitts. He said the vehicles were probably unlocked.

Officers then arrested Gary Danielson on five counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and second-degree theft.

The investigation is continuing to determine whether Danielson is connected to any other break-ins in the city.

“It’s hard to say for sure,” Mitts said.

Danielson went to Coos County jail, where he was released on Monday on his own recognizance.

My car was one of those entered in Empire. A cursior inspection would have concluded I didn't have anything of value in my car but Nooooo...he had to pull EVERYTHING out of its proper place and rifle through everything. One hour later, I had my things arranged back in place and was only missing my almost full Dutch Bros Card, 50 cents, and an hour of my time.

If the cops want, they can finger print my car...I am sure they will find finger prints other than mine!

What IS a joke, is that you are surprised he was released, for property crimes, when we cant keep people committing person to person crimes(assaults, sex crimes, robbers) in jail for more than 10 minutes.

As long as 99.9% of the thieves are only entering UNLOCKED vehicles, it doesn't affect me in the slightest that he's back out immediately.... because I'm smart enough to keep my vehicle locked. I am happy there is no shortage of people willing to leave their valuables in an unlocked car... it makes my property soooo much safer that way.
