CORVALLIS (AP) — Corvallis police and the FBI are investigating the theft of almost $100,000 from a Corvallis woman’s bank account.

The woman called the authorities late last month after noticing the money was gone when she received a bank transfer alert on her e-mail account.

Corvallis police Capt. Jon Sassaman says it’s an unusual case in which someone was able transfer money from one bank to another across state lines.

Sassaman urged bank customers, especially those who do online banking, to check their statements regularly and to be sure to call their banks if they notice any unusual activity.
