Southwestern Oregon Community College will be putting members of its culinary arts schools to work feeding students on campus.
The college announced Tuesday it will begin managing food services internally starting Sept. 1, relying on the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute. The food service has been provided by San Diego-based Premier Food Services. The college did not indicate how many people the company employs on campus.
The college has developed a business plan and will offer externship opportunities, a press release said. The new Southwestern Dining Services will include all catering functions on campus. It will hire an executive chef, director of catering and several frontline classified positions.
