Coos Bay Eagles club donates to Bay Area First Step

Coos Bay Eagles Aerie Past Worthy President Doug Karr and Auxiliary Past Madam President Joyce McCulloch presented a donation of $6,200 to Bay Area First Step.
The presidents and volunteers raised the funds through hard work and donations that consisted of an excess of 45 combined lodge functions during the Eagle fraternal year, a press release said. First Step provides low-cost housing, assistance and education to individuals recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.
Shutters Creek honors top workers and graduate
The Shutter Creek Correctional Institution presented 20-year service awards during national Correctional Employees Week to Officer Jim Lindsey and Lt. Steve Wagner. Sgt. Jason Rogerson and Lt. Ray Herning, who worked together to save a staff member who had food lodged in his throat obstructing his airway, won the Life Saving award. Douglas Daskalos, a graduate of the Oregon SUMMIT Program and continuing supporter of the program, received the Outstanding Citizen award.
