North Bend fireworks start tonight

North Bend
• The Mill Casino-Hotel firework display at 10 tonight at the casino, 3201 Tremont Ave.
• On Saturday, a Salute to the Military will open with a U.S. Coast Guard rescue demonstration at 11:30 a.m. Airshow at 1 p.m. The Mill Casino-Hotel SandFest event will feature World War I- and II-era aircraft, and aerobatics, as well as a ground displays. Event is free to the public, free shuttle service provided, advance ticket bleacher seating, outdoor food and beverages available.
• SandFest Phase I will be held at Pony Village Mall Saturday and Sunday. Sign up time is 9 a.m. for free Super Moto events.
• Free roller skating will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Bay Area Church's new gym, 1850 Clark St. in North Bend. All ages are welcome and roller skates will be provided. For more information, call the church at 756-2004.
Coos Bay
• A Family Fun Day hosted by the Fireman's Auxiliary will be held in Mingus Park and near the Coos Bay waterfront in downtown Coos Bay on Saturday. Fishing ponds, face painting, swimming, family competitions, clowns, children's entertainment and vendors. NOTE: The parking lot at the softball field in Mingus Park is available for use, as will its parking lot, which will be accessible from southbound 10th Street from Date Street.
• Free swimming at Mingus Park Pool on Saturday.
• Mayor's 1K and 4K Firecracker Run will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mingus Park.
• A fireworks display will be held at dusk over the Coos Bay waterfront.
• Robin Trower is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Green Spot, 181 Anderson in Coos Bay.
• Coos Bay Speedway, south of Coos Bay on Highway 42, will be open both Friday and Saturday for circle track racing. Races begin at 6 p.m. with tickets available at the gate.
Charleston
• An all-you-can-eat Pancake Feed will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at the Charleston Rural Fire Protection station at 92342 Cape Arago Hwy. Cost is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children 12 and under. Children 3 and under eat for free. Proceeds will benefit the Charleston Volunteer Firefighters Association.
