Area towns offer festivals, music

Lakeside

• Local fire departments  will face off in the Firefighters Waterball Contest   from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Tenmile Lake County Park parking lot. Onlookers beware - it's not just the teams that could get soaked.

• Celebrity Bull Ride in the park at about 7 p.m. Contestants include city and county officials and local business owners

• Street Faire through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, includes games, rides, wine tasting, a bake sale, T-shirt sales and live music Saturday with Hawaiian Band 10 a.m. to noon and Charlie Freak Band noon to 4 p.m.

• Classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

• Fireworks at dusk.

Winchester Bay

Fireworks will be held Saturday evening at dusk over the bay.

Gardiner

• The Annual Potluck Picnic scheduled to begin at noon Saturday at the end of Front Street. There will be children's games including snail races, a water balloon toss, a watermelon-eating contest and an egg toss for older kids.

• The Friends of Gardiner Cemetery will host a fireworks at dusk Saturday at Steamboat Island in Gardiner.

Florence

• Live music will be performed all weekend on the Resort Players Stage, 1499 Bay St., in Florence.

• A Lions Club barbecue wagon will be parked Saturday and Sunday on Bay Street. Florence Old Town Public Market will be open Saturday and Sunday on the boardwalk. Activities will include a Kiwanis duck race at noon Saturday, and at the Old Town boat launch. A watermelon and a pie eating contest at 1 p.m. in the Old Town Gazebo.

• A fireworks display will be held over the Siuslaw River Saturday at dusk. The best view is from Old Town Boardwalk.
