Southern towns have art, food, fun

Bandon
• Bandon Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bandon High School.
• The Bandon Lions Club will hold an Old Fashioned Independence Day of Celebration beginning with a parade and flyover at 10 a.m. Saturday. The parade will travel along U.S. Highway 101 and through Old Town. Bandon Fire Chief Lanny Boston is grand marshal.
• The Lions will host a Family Fun Day in city park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring food, drinks and treats. Live music will be provided by the band Hot Wax and children's activities are planned.
• Bandon's annual fireworks display will take place near the south jetty of the Coquille River at dusk. Donations can be made at the Visitor Center.
• The Coos Kennel Club's all-breed dog show will be on Saturday and Sunday at Bandon High School.
• The 21st-annual Quality Crafters Guild show and craft sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bandon Community Center next to City Park.
Gold Beach
• The Party at the Port and Fireworks celebration will be held from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Port of Gold Beach. Festivities will include a parade (may include an Oregon National Guard flyover with two F-15 Eagles), live music, food and craft vendors, free carnival games for children, pony rides, bull ride, a bounce house, contests, a beer garden and a dance. Firework display will begin at 10 p.m. over the bay.
Port Orford
• Port Orford's 4th of July Jubilee today through Sunday.
• Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a chalk art contest will be held from 20th Street to Battle Rock Park. There also will be a jubilee central, original play, square dancing and more.
• Fireworks will be held at dusk on Saturday at Battle Rock Park with singer Bryan Rands playing guitar, providing music and lyrics for a Jimmy Hendrix version of The Star Spangled Banner. |
