Library hosts nonprofit event

The North Bend Public Library wants to help nonprofit organizations in these trying financial times. From July 27-31, the library will hold Nonprofit Week, featuring classes for nonprofits and grant writers.

The classes will be in the large meeting room.

n Grants Research for the First-Time Grant Writer: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday, July 27.

Librarians Gary Sharp and Buzzy Nielsen will give useful hints on research you can do to make your grant applications more successful. They'll discuss what to look for when researching potential sources and library resources that will help.

n An Outline of Basic Grant Writing: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 29.

Nancy Angelesco and Tobe Porter, directors of the Langlois and Port Orford public libraries will offer advice based on their own diverse and successful grant writing experience.

n Grant Applications - The Funders' Perspective: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, July 30.

What's up with all this Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook stuff, anyway? Katherine Hoppe of the Coos Bay/North Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau and Nielsen will discuss how nonprofits are using social media and the Internet to make connections and promote their services.
